Our visit to the Pullman Hotel in the charming city of Cologne, Germany presented us with an intriguing blend of comfort and minor accessibility challenges. While some aspects of the hotel's facilities presented room for improvement, the overall experience was, nonetheless, enjoyable, making our stay at the hotel a memorable one.

Hotel Accessibility

Our interaction with the hotel began at its main entrance, fitted with a swinging door that could be slowed down using a button. However, the absence of a side door rendered the process of entering and exiting somewhat inconvenient.

Once inside, we found the hotel's accessibility improved significantly. The elevator was notably spacious and quick, providing easy access to the various floors. This sense of spaciousness was also mirrored in the corridors, ensuring seamless mobility throughout the hotel.

The common areas, including the reception, were expansive and welcoming, offering complimentary flavored water and a variety of treats for guests.

Parking Accessibility

The parking situation at the hotel could use some improvement. The absence of a dedicated luggage offloading area near the entrance necessitated using the taxi stand, which unfortunately led to a few irate comments from a taxi driver. The hotel provided a parking garage at a cost of €30 per day, but it was only accessible to vehicles up to 1.90m in height. Although public disabled parking spots were available, they were dispersed in the surrounding streets. The scattered placement and frequent unavailability can make finding a spot quite challenging.

Room Accessibility

Upon entering our room, we encountered a somewhat narrow doorway due to a robust door shutter and a fuse box built into the wall. The challenges this presented for wheelchair users were apparent from the numerous scratches on the door.

Inside the room, maneuvering the lift was more challenging than necessary due to the carpeted flooring. The bathroom was suitably sized and featured a convenient roll-in shower. However, the relatively high positioning of the toilet could pose difficulties for some guests.

One of the delightful amenities in the room was a complimentary minibar, refilled daily.

The bed was large, comfortable, and had a generous clearance for the lift underneath due to its raised legs. However, the provision of only large, plush pillows was somewhat inconvenient as it limited adjustability and comfort.

Breakfast Service

A standout feature of our stay was the breakfast service. The hotel offered an extensive selection, including made-to-order eggs. We were particularly impressed by the breakfast staff's attentiveness as they remembered specific requests from previous days, such as asking for a straw, without the need for us to repeat them.

Conclusion

Despite certain areas where the Pullman Hotel could enhance its accessibility, these aspects did not significantly detract from our overall enjoyable stay. We appreciated the staff's earnest efforts, the range of amenities, and the personalized attention that added a special touch to our experience.
